Shuaichang frowned as he sold the stocks in his hand, making a net profit of five million. The stock market was in a downturn, and it couldn’t compare to the last world, where returns could multiply by dozens or hundreds of times. Fortunately, he now had money, so he didn’t care too much about earning more or less; the process of making money was what mattered most.
Ling Tuan: “Handsome, I love how you keep making money no matter how upset you feel inside!”
Shuaichang: “Thanks for the compliment, but I’m not happy.”
With the path of pursuit completely blocked, Shuaichang couldn’t just sit back and wait. He had to look for other solutions.
For a few days, Shuaichang was quite upset about not being able to pursue his love. That day, he was sitting watching TV, waiting for Qisheng to come home, when he heard the sound of the door closing. He turned his head and saw Qisheng enter, directly sitting on the sofa across from Shuaichang, back straight, face cold, not saying a word, breathing sharp and rapid.
Seeing that Qisheng was in a bad mood, Shuaichang moved over and gently patted Qisheng’s back: “What’s wrong? Don’t be anxious. If something’s bothering you, tell me. I’ve got your back.”
However, as soon as Shuaichang finished speaking, Qisheng’s face turned beet red, his whole body trembling softly, the light in his eyes overshadowed by dark clouds, and it started to rain.
Shuaichang felt his heart racing: “Xiao Sheng, don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
“Shen Ming, I got angry at the company today and accidentally broke a piece of jade.” Qisheng’s face suddenly went pale, his lips trembling.
“If the jade is broken, then it’s broken. Who dares to be angry at you? I’ll get money and go smash him!”
The five million he just earned could certainly ruin that guy’s face. How could the person he held dear be bullied?
Not sure if it was Shuaichang’s words that worked, but Qisheng gradually relaxed, blinking his eyes as tears hung suspended on his thick eyelashes, beautiful and vulnerable.
“The jewelry store had a customer today to appraise the jade bracelet…”
The customer, named Meng Tian, worked at the Qi Group and was promoted after three years of effort to become a department manager. However, Qisheng had returned from overseas and snatched his position.
After the Qi Group went bankrupt, Meng Tian had wooed a very wealthy girlfriend, and they were in the stage of getting married. Since she was an only child, marrying her would mean he could cut back on thirty years of hard work.
Meng Tian’s family was just getting by, but he had a jade bracelet that was said to have been passed down from his ancestors. To determine its value, he made an appointment at the jewelry store where Qisheng worked for an appraisal.
When Meng Tian saw that Qisheng had become the appraiser, he felt resentful and couldn’t help but make a sneer. Qisheng couldn’t be bothered to argue with him and when he reached out to take the jade bracelet, he didn’t catch it, and the bracelet fell to the ground, breaking into several pieces.
Meng Tian was furious and insisted that Qisheng pay him five million, claiming that it was an emerald and would be worth that much at auction.
Qisheng couldn’t help but get angry and retorted, “How does anyone know whether it’s real without an appraisal? Just because you say it’s worth five million, does it really mean it is?” After saying that, he rolled up his sleeves and left.
The more he thought about it afterward, the more aggrieved he felt. He was a favored child of heaven; when had he ever suffered such an insult?
“Do you know who his girlfriend is?”
Qisheng thought for a moment and replied, “Her name is Wu Tingting. Her family has a company that does e-commerce, and they previously cooperated with Qi Group.”
Shuaichang laughed, “Then that’s perfect. I’ll take you to visit the Wu family tomorrow. Wu Tingting is actually my distant cousin.”
Based on the information provided by Ling Tuan and Qisheng’s description, Shuaichang now knew what to do.
He continued to comfort Qisheng: “These are just minor issues, very easy to resolve. Meng Tian isn’t worth getting upset over.”
“Don’t pay him any money. Without an appraisal, who knows if it’s fake?” Qisheng was worried he would use money to settle the matter and give Meng Tian an advantage.
Shuaichang assured him, “Don’t worry, I’m not someone who has money to burn.”
That night, Shuaichang called Wu Tingting’s father, Wu Zongxi, to inform him of their visit the next day. Although Wu Zongxi was puzzled, he was very pleased to agree and told his wife that they would have distinguished guests visiting.
When Lu Ming Shen pursued Qisheng, he had given him plenty of clothes, but Qisheng didn’t like the tight suits, so Shuaichang planned to take him out to choose some well-fitting casual wear.
In order to display their affection in front of others, the two bought matching suits in different colors. When they put them on, they looked quite good and stood side by side in front of the mirror, exuding a perfect harmony.
Shuaichang initially wanted Uncle Li to drive them to the Wu family, but Qisheng insisted on driving.
At ten in the morning, the two drove to the Wu family, and coincidentally, Meng Tian was also there.
Meng Tian was smiling as he waited for the guests when a silver-grey luxury car pulled up. A tall person got out from the passenger seat, with a strong build and defined features, sharp eagle eyes filled with energy.
That person didn’t walk over to them but stood in place, apparently waiting for something.
Wu Tingting excitedly nudged Meng Tian’s arm and whispered, “Lu Ming Shen! He looks even more handsome in person than in the magazines! I can’t believe this amazing person is my distant cousin.”
Meng Tian of course knew Lu Ming Shen, a legendary real estate tycoon who built his own commercial empire from scratch, and was only thirty this year.
He thought that pursuing Wu Tingting was certainly not a loss, but he never expected the Wu family had a connection with Lu Ming Shen.
“Don’t be too excited; it’s most important to leave a good impression on your cousin,” Meng Tian adjusted his collar, as if he were the one from a wealthy family and Wu Tingting was the one with a humble background.
Meng Tian composed himself and put on a well-placed smile, displaying admiration for Lu Ming Shen without being overly fawning.
But when he raised his head, the smile froze, his lips twitched, and he felt a mix of emotions: “Damn, how could that bankrupt Qisheng be with real estate mogul Lu Ming Shen?!”
Could it be that he was fired and became Lu Ming Shen’s driver after breaking the jade bracelet worth five million yesterday?
That seemed possible, and he was determined to bring this up, wanting to see Qisheng lose his job!
These thoughts flashed through Meng Tian’s mind in an instant. He quickly adjusted his expression and followed behind Wu Zongxi and his wife to greet Lu Ming Shen.
“Ming Shen, I heard the Ming Shen Real Estate plans to go public soon. Your future is truly limitless!” Wu Zongxi looked at Lu Ming Shen with eyes full of admiration, as if he were gazing at a mountain of gold.
“Cousin, you’re overestimating me! How has Auntie been recently?” Shuaichang, while intentionally restraining his aura, still exuded a natural pressure that made others feel a flutter in their hearts.
